ED REGGI is BACK! And happier than two guys in a...nevermind....he's back on the Q to discuss the controversial decision for the US Supreme Court to overturn a piece of the DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act) and release the federal govenrment from having jurisdiction over matters of civil unions between people of the same sex in the states. Which means if a state wants to allow a same sex couple to marry, then by all means DO IT!
But that wasn't the only special thing that happened this week! The Supreme Court also decided that the Voting Rights Act was a antiquated and decided to do away with it, which sent the minorities within the country into a TIZZY! Well in pops Darryl Frierson (aka DIG GAME) to discuss being black man and his thoughts and feelings on both the VRA and DOMA decisions. Plus he talks about his podcast "Straight Outta Lo-Cash" that Mark recently appeared on and the fact that he DOES NOT SPEAK FOR ALL BLACK PEOPLE (very important).
All this and the usual stuff with Letters to answer, imponderables to ponder and a little more of the new game "who would you rather hang with?" So sit back and enjoy while the guys take TALK RADIO and TURN IT UP to 11!
On this episode, the prodigal son, Matt Krueger returns from a long hiatus to jump in with Justin and Mark to talk about .....Pro-Wrestling???? Well I guess you can take the fan away from wrestling, but you can't take the wrestling out of the fan. This leads to Mark ranting about people that are on the internet all the time and think they have it all figured out (which they don't). This then leads to a discussion about how media, locally and nationally, only want to promote stories and information regarding people with bad pasts and nefarious associations.
Eventually the talk switches over to Paula Deen who has decided that black people should run around dressed like a slave wait staff from Django Unchained. The talk quickly derails into a thing about whether certain words in our society still have the same feeling and sting that they did many years ago. And what if the words we consider "deragatory" in our culture had a law change them to be okay to use. How would people react?
All this fun, plus a new game called "Who'd you rather hang with", some letters from the listeners and questions for the DOCTOR of LOVE to anwer outright. A very fast paced and fun show!
Real Radio, Real Honest....its the Q!
Well another show dawns on us and we grab Tony Kozina and Jeremy Bailey to jump on the old train for our weekly jaunt through life. After being silent on it for over a week (cause unlike conservatives, we try to wait until more facts are in about a specific topic or "conspiracy") Mark and the boys dive head first into the NSA surveillence situation. Discussing the "who's and what's" of whether the PATRIOT ACT is a good or bad thing (The LIBS tried tellign Bush it was a bad thing when he passed it during his presidency)....and all the good stuff associated with you losing your freedoms of privacy to keep you a littel safer.
Then the gears get switched when the men bring on Grae Drake from Rotten Tomatoes to discuss the huge movies of the summer and what is not being talked about. Grae answers a past show question and they all discuss the validity of M. Night Shyamalan as a director...and Mark beats Grae to the punch and teaches her something about a certain movie she didn't even realize. Definitely a heads up for great stuff coming out.
And finally the lover doctors are back as Tony Kozina decides to help out a young lady with a relationship problem and they all realize really fast that Tony truly is the love doctor or extremely versed in horrible relationships.
On this episode of The Q. Mark and Jeremy decide to fly the whole show by themselves discussing everything from what its like to be in the NAVY as well as the two guys horrible weeks. Car crashes and thunderstorms plagued the Midwest and these two were square in the middle of it as Tornadoes took out Mark's power and a wreck (without air bags deploying) almost took out Jeremy.
And the ranting doesn't stop there cause a Scripps National Spelling Bee champion was crowned and Mark doesn't like their introvert styles. Then it becomes a show about Hitlers when they talk about a Father of the Year candidate trying to get his custody rights back and a problem that JC Penny's is currently dealing with.
At this point Mark starts to take some Letters from the Listeners and one question in particular puts the show over the edge when Jeremy starts divulging a story from his military past. And a discussion regarding the recession puts Mark over the edge as he tries to explain how far we are from the economy being good again for the middle class and lower people.
Taking talk radio and turning it up to 11....its THE Q!
Well when the powers that be decide that its okay to have a BLACK ONLY historical college, Mark and Justin discuss the ability for a WHITE ONLY college or school is an option. And all this because a fan decided to write a question that they thought would be good to ask...sheesh!
But before they get there, Mark and Justin welcome SAL WOODS on to the show to discuss his upcoming MMA Match for the MMA Federation in St. Louis on June 22nd.
Also, the guys welcome Bill Delaney again to talk about the new Star Trek: Into the Darkness movie that he just watched. Mark is excited to hear about this, but they never quite get there since the talk turns to remakes and re-imaginings in Hollywood. They guys all talk abou their favorite and least favorite remakes of all time. So do you think yours was mentioned...listen and find out.
Real Radio, Real Honest.....its the Q! Taking talk radio and turning it up to 11!
